Lucknow: BJP leader and outgoing Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma on Friday said he will continue to strengthen the party to ensure that it emerges winner in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Mr Sharma has been replaced as Deputy Chief Minister in the new BJP-led state government by another Brahmin leader, Brajesh Pathak.
He congratulated new ministers who took oath on Friday and wished, "May the double-engine government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath continue to work for the people of the state."
"I will continue to work for the party, and strengthen it. As a party worker, I will work to ensure that the BJP emerges victorious in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections," Mr Sharma told PTI.
Mr Sharma dismissed speculations of him being next Uttar Pradesh BJP chief.
With Swatantra Dev Singh taking oath as a cabinet minister, the post is likely to fall vacant and a new state unit chief of the party may be named, a senior UP BJP leader said.

Ukraine on Wednesday said it had struck a Russian naval transport vessel docked in the Azov Sea near the besieged port city of Mariupol, a month into the Russian invasion.

TASS reported that the vessel was capable of carrying up tp 1,500 tonnes of cargo.
Berdyansk is situated around 80 kilometres ( 60 miles ) to the west of the strategic city of Maiupol, which has been encircled and heavily damaged by Russian forces.
Thousands of civilians have escaped Mariupol through evacuation corridors but some 100,000 people remain lacking water and electricity.
Kyiv says more than 2,500 people have been killed in the city since Russian President Vladimir Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine one months ago.

Mr. Justice Arun Mishra, Chairperson, National Human Rights Commission today said that internet aided communication has brought in a lot of positive changes in our lives across the world but it has also led to cyber-crimes and digital divide. Cyber space is being used not only for the financial and economic offences but also for sponsoring hate speeches bordering on terrorism or incitement in different parts of the world impacting peace and harmony.
Justice Mishra was addressing the student interns at a function organized to present them their Internship Certificates in New Delhi today in the presence of the Secretary General, Mr. Bimbadhar Pradhan, Director General (Investigation), Mr. Santosh Mehra, Registrar (Law), Mr. Surajit Dey and Joint Secretary, Mr. Harish Chandra Chaudhary and other senior officers.
Congratulating the 59 students for successful completion of their internship, Justice Mishra said that safeguarding the interests of economy & welfare of the nation is the main challenge faced by the young generation at present. He expressed the hope that they would think and constructively do things differently to be successful in life. He said that we need to promote indigenous goods and services so as not to end up paying excessive amount in the name of purchasing branded goods and apparels, some of which may have in fact being locally produced.
Justice Mishra expressed concern that the cyber technology, which has proven time and again to be an effective tool for managing people’s welfare is being mostly misused and falls in the trap of dark web. He said that the real challenge in the matter of cyber-crime is regarding the jurisdiction, when it becomes difficult to find out the place of delivery of tangible goods and the trail and destination of the money.

NHRC intervention ensures payment of Rs. 20 lakh as monetary relief in a case of deaths of four children due to electrocution in District Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh; State Chief Secretary asked to submit details of action against the delinquent officials
New Delhi, 2nd March, 2022
On the intervention of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, India, in a case of death of four children due to electrocution, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited has paid Rs. 5 lakh each as monetary relief to their next of kin. However, having received no information on the departmental action taken and the grant of criminal proceedings against the negligent public servants, the Commission has issued summons for the personal appearance of Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh on 28th April, 2022 with the requisite reports. However, he shall stand dispensed with the personal appearance if, the requisite report is received on or before 21st April, 2022.
The Commission had registered the case on basis of complaints, alleging that four children died due to electrocution when a live wire snapped and fell into a tube-well they were bathing in Sambhal district, Uttar Pradesh on 21st June, 2019. Allegedly, the incidence had occurred due to the negligence of the Electricity Department.
On the basis of the material on record received from the concerned authorities in response to its notices, the Commission found the allegations as correct and that the personnel of Paschimannchal Vidhyut Vitran Nigam Limited were responsible for the incident. Thereafter, the Commission issued a notice of Chief Secretary, Government of Uttar Pradesh to show cause why appropriate amount of interim relief may not be recommended to be paid to the next of kin of each of the four deceased children. He was also asked to submit the details of departmental action taken in the matter and grant of prosecution sanction in the criminal case in the matter.
