The National Human Rights Commission on Tuesday issued notices to Uttar Pradesh DGP and Prayagraj police commissioner over the murders of Atiq Ahmed and Ashraf on April 15. In notices to the two officials, the commission has sought a detailed report in four weeks in "all the aspects leading to death" - time, place and reason for arrest/detention, the copy of complaint and FIR registered against the deceased, the copy of arrest memo and inspection memo and whether information of arrest was given to family/relatives - among other things.
